Day 6 ~ Indiana Speedway, Garfield Park Conservatory and Pizzeria Uno
Day six started with a trip to the Indiana Speedway.
We toured the museum . .
. . . and then went on the behind the scenes tour.
We even got to stand on the recetrack!
Of course, halfway through the tour, I noticed that somebody (me) forgot to charge the camera last night. Thank goodness for cell phone cameras to pick up the slack and record every mind numbing site we saw (I'll bore you with all those photos upon our return!
We followed this up with a trip to the Garfield Park Conservatory. This was a very small conservatory with a "Sunken Garden". This was just right for our attention span at that point. We lucked out and caught the end of the Butterfly house event.
The garden wasn't sunken enough to capture the quatrefoil design of the center fountain.
We lunched at Pizza Uno. Being fans of the restaurant, we are sad that we don't have one close to us. The kids especially like dessert, specifically the Jumbo chocolate chip cookie sundae. It is a chocolate chip cookie freshly baked in a "large" deep dish pizza pan topped with ice cold vanilla ice cream, gooey hot fudge, drizzled peanut butter sauce and whipped cream. Unfortunately, Pizza Uno does not have the peanut butter sauce anymore. We also forgot to order the jumbo size and needed to have two (yes, 2) regular size sundaes brought out. The waitress told us not to worry, two regular size sundaes have the same amount of cookie as one jumbo size sundae. Whew, what a relief, I certainly didn't want to eat less! The sundae didn't stand a chance and was inhaled.
Our drive today took us past a wind farm. Acres of lazily (is that a word) turning turbines generating clean green energy. They were hypnotizing.
And at some point we drove through a time zone. This was only picked up when the time on the ipad did not match the time on the cell phone anymore.
